Diploma in Engineering Construction Lifting, Positioning and Installing Structures, Plant and Equipment
For experienced riggers and erectors ready to demonstrate senior-level competence. This qualification is assessed in your workplace, against the work you already do.
IMPORTANT: ASSESSMENT ONLY, NO TRAINING PROVIDED
This is a vocational qualification. You will be assessed on your existing skills and knowledge, not taught from scratch. If training needs are identified at the initial assessment, these will be quoted separately as an additional cost.

Two discipline pathways
Learners select one pathway at registration. Both lead to the same qualification level and are assessed through the same methods.
For those working in lifting, slinging and rigging operations on engineering construction structures, plant and equipment.
Rigging
For those working in the erection, installation and dismantling of structures, plant and equipment in engineering construction environments.

HOW YOU ARE ASSESSED
Assessment Process
Assessment is competence-based and takes place in a real working environment. Candidates are measured across four methods to demonstrate full occupational competence.
1. Online Knowledge Tests
Supervised multiple-choice and short-answer exams set by the ECITB awarding organisation.
2. Observed Practical Assessments
Hands-on evaluation in a real workplace or approved simulated conditions, confirming practical competence.
3. Portfolio of
Evidence
A documented collection of evidence demonstrating achievement across all nine mandatory units.
4. Final Technical Interview
A recorded discussion with an ECITB assessor to confirm all learning objectives have been met.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Who Can Apply?
There are no mandatory entry requirements for this qualification. Due to the technical nature of the assessment, it is recommended that candidates hold GCSE grade C/5 or above in English and Mathematics, or equivalent experience. Candidates who can demonstrate relevant prior learning and industry experience are encouraged to apply.
ON COMPLETION
What You Receive
On successful completion of all nine mandatory units, you will be awarded the ECITB Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Construction Lifting, Positioning and Installing Structures, Plant and Equipment, in your chosen pathway. This is a nationally recognised qualification that demonstrates senior-level occupational competence to employers across oil and gas, renewables, power generation, and large-scale engineering construction.
