NPORS N401 Appointed Person Training Course
Our NPORS N401 Appointed Person course is designed for individuals who are responsible for the planning and execution of lifting operations. This training ensures that candidates understand how to safely assess lifting tasks, prepare comprehensive lift plans, and oversee lifting activities on-site, fully compliant with legislation and best practices.
Upon successful completion, candidates will be awarded an NPORS Appointed Person (N401) certification, demonstrating competency in planning lifting operations safely and effectively.

Course Objectives
During the NPORS Appointed Person (N401) course, candidates will cover:

Identifying weights, centres of gravity, and selecting suitable lifting accessories

Understanding diverse communication methods used in lifting operations

Completing reflective reports on lifting activities

Planning lifting operations, including identifying exclusion zones and hazards

Preparing comprehensive lift plans with accurate technical information

Managing risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work

Specifying and explaining crane positioning and load movements
-
Understanding environmental factors impacting lifting operations

Identifying different crane types, their capabilities, and limitations

Applying legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards to lifting plans

Recognising maintenance and inspection requirements for lifting equipment

Interpreting load charts, RCI (Rated Capacity Indicators), and anti-collision systems

Selecting correct cranes and lifting accessories for specific operations

Demonstrating safe slinging techniques, calculating sling angles, and load assessments

Entry Requirements: Candidates should have a good understanding of English. Some experience of lifting operations is advantageous but not essential for novices.

PPE Requirements: Safety boots, helmet, and hi-vis jacket are mandatory.
