Renew your CCNSG Safety Passport quickly with Bowtec’s Test Only option. If your passport is about to expire and you meet the eligibility criteria, you can complete a short multiple-choice test at one of our centres; no full course required.

This test-only option is ideal for those who are confident in their existing health and safety knowledge and prefer a streamlined renewal process. The exam must be invigilated by Bowtec and can be taken at a Bowtec test centre or, subject to specific criteria, at your workplace.

Who should attend?

The CCNSG Renewal Test Only is designed for workers whose current Safety Passport is about to expire and who have kept their knowledge up to date on site.
You should choose this option if:

  • Your existing CCNSG card is still valid (or within the renewal grace period).

  • You have experience of working safely in engineering construction.

  • You are confident in your knowledge of health & safety rules and best practice.

Course Objectives

  • By the end of the test, candidates will have demonstrated knowledge of:

  • Safe working practices in engineering construction.

  • Legal requirements and responsibilities under health & safety law.

  • Hazards on site and how to control them.

  • Best practice for working safely with colleagues and contractors.

Other Information

  • Test Format: 60 multiple-choice questions with a required pass mark of 48 (80%).

  • No Training Provided: Participants must revise health and safety materials beforehand, as no guidance or assistance will be given during the test.

  • Basic IT Skills Required: The test is conducted online, and candidates must have a basic level of IT proficiency.

  • Retake Policy: Candidates have two attempts to pass. If unsuccessful, they must complete the one-day CCNSG renewal course.

    A: If your card has expired, you may need to retake the 2-day CCNSG National course. Please contact us for advice.

  • Q: How long does the renewal take?
    A: The test is completed in a half-day session, and results are available immediately.

  • Q: Do I need to bring anything?
    A: Yes, Please bring photographic ID and your existing CCNSG card.

  • Q: What happens if I fail?
    A: You can re-sit the test. Our team will advise on next steps to ensure you’re fully supported.
