ECITB TAP01:
Appointed Person Moving Loads
Technical Assessment

This half-day ECITB technical assessment validates your competence as an Appointed Person responsible for planning and managing complex rigging and moving loads operations. The focus is on real-world scenarios such as planning a lift, generating risk assessments and toolbox talks, and justifying rigging decisions. Passing this course leads to recognised ECITB certification.

 

Who should attend?

  • Experienced riggers, steel erectors, or supervisors overseeing high-risk lifting tasks

  • Personnel already holding ECITB APML certification and seeking technical validation

  • Appointed Persons responsible for ensuring safety and compliance in lifting operations

By the end of the TAP01 assessment, delegates will be able to:

  1. Develop a comprehensive lift plan for a specific complex rigging task

  2. Perform a formal risk assessment tailored to that operation

  3. Deliver a clear, concise toolbox talk to briefing team members

  4. Demonstrate compliance with ECITB standards and lifting regulations

Other Information

Is TAP01 just an exam or a full training course?

TAP01 is a technical assessment, not classroom training. It validates your ability to plan and manage operations effectively. Training is recommended beforehand if criteria aren’t met.

What happens if I fail?

You’ll need 80%+ in the theory component and to demonstrate competence in all practical tasks. Any failed part can be re-tested as arranged with Bowtec.

What do I need to bring?

Bring valid photo ID. All forms, materials, and guidance are provided on-site.

Are logbooks or work tasks required?

Yes. Delegates must have completed the ECITB APML logbook or hold an employer confirmation letter before attempting TAP01

Can Bowtec deliver this test at our site?

Yes. Bowtec offers flexible onsite delivery for companies with suitable facilities and adequate candidate numbers.
